Ep 58- Stranger Things
Spoiler alert for ALL episodes of Stranger Things.
Shayna and Kathy are joined by Megan, a social worker, and Erika, a student pursuing her MSW. The Netflix show, Stranger Things, that took the world by storm almost 10 years ago has come to an end and we talked about our love of the show and many of the mental health themes. We touch on grief and trauma and the importance of supportive relationships and, of course, DnD.

MSW Student Intern (Aspiring LCSW)
Hello, adventurers! My name is Erika (she/they), and I am a Master of Social Work student intern. In D&D terms, you might think of me as a chaotic-good wizard from the School of Mental Health, with a social work background—and a grimoire that looks suspiciously like the DSM-5.
I am a proud nerd who loves pop culture in all its forms, including D&D, art, music, anime, cosplaying, books, and internet culture. Some might say I’m trilingual, as I speak English, Spanish, and memes. When appropriate, I enjoy incorporating pop culture references into my work, and if a client has an interest I’m unfamiliar with, I make it a point to learn more about it.
Mental health has played a significant role in my life—through personal experiences, the experiences of those close to me, and a long-standing fascination with the field. I truly love what I do, and my goal is to become a licensed clinician who helps people feel seen, heard, and supported without guilt or shame.
I had an incredible time being part of this podcast, and it’s inspired me to consider a new side quest in the future—perhaps starting my own podcast or documenting my journey toward licensure. I may need to consult a seer before committing. Thank you for taking the time to listen, and I hope you enjoy!
I don't have any social media or a website yet, but I've included my email if anyone would like to ask me questions, have any comments or feedback, or just to side quest and meet a new NPC.
